Front campy shifter problem

My relatively new Centaur front ergo shifter is failing to shift up to the
big ring intermittently. The cable is tight, not slipping. On occasion the
lever simply doesn't seem to engage and moves freely w/ no movement of the
cable. It is on a cross bike that has had some falls, but nothing that can
be directly tied to the problem. As I said it works sometimes and sometimes
it doesn't. I have only had it on the bike this season, purchased new. Any
thoughts?
Thanx in advance,
Andy

The little tab on the shift lever isn't engaging the front toothed
bushing for some reason, I suspect perhaps a cracked body...tough to
tell w/o taking it apart a\nd looking around.

Peter mentions cracked body. Before you panic, check the little pivot
on the thumb button - sometimes that sticks. Then, spray just a little
bit of WD-40 into the front of the shifter where the little dogs engage
the ratchet - they may be failing to engage.
