Question one: What is the small screw in the back of the plates on a front derailleur for?

Question two: I adjusted the High limit screw because the chain was rubbing on the plate and now it will not shift to the large chainring (this is a triple). Solution?

Question: What is the small screw in the back of the plates on a front derailleur for?

I don't know why it's made that way, but I like it. It makes it possible to change front derailleurs without breaking the chain.
