I've finally decided to rebuild my wife's MTB using my beloved Kona Explosif frame, and to use her (too big for her) frame for a frankenbike project for me. However, I've hit something of a snag. I was planning on using some old Sora 8 speed brifters that have been collecting dust, along with an even older Campy Victory crank. The problem is that the frame is routed for a top pull fromt mech. Just *how* different are the cable pulls for Shimano road and MTB groups? Is it possible to do an alternate cable mounting (inside of the bolt, rather than outside) to get the difference to wash out? Does anyone make a top pull road derailleur? Can anyone think of any other options?

QBP makes an 'e-clamp', a clamp-on thingy with a bolt attachement-to which you bolt a roller to make your top pull setup work with a bottom pull FD..about $18 for all of it-

Aha! I completely forgot about those (I remember seeing a bike with one a few years back).
