  1. I am considering buying a road bike. Because this will be my first one, I am looking for something affordable but also capable. I am looking at 3 in particular:

    2010 Fuji Roubaix ACR 1.0: 2010.fujibikes.comRoubaix ACR 1 0.aspx
    2010 Fuji Roubaix ACR 2.0: 2010.fujibikes.comRoubaix ACR 2 0.aspx
    2011 Giant Defy 1: giant-bicycles.com44047

I chose those 3 because I can get a pretty good deal on each of them. I can get the ACR 1.0 and the Defy 1 for about the same price and the ACR 2.0 for about $150 cheaper. My first question is; since I can get the ACR 1.0 and the Defy 1 for about the same price, are they comparable or is one better than the other? Second, take the best of those 2 and compare it to the ACR 2.0. Is it worth it to pay the extra $150, or should I just spring for the ACR 2.0? From what I can tell, the ACR 1.0 is the better of the two, but I'm not very familiar with all of the components and could use some help.

  2. It's impossible to say which of those three bikes is best. Which is best is going to be a function of how it fits you, how it feels when you ride it, how you like it's looks, and how the price fits in your budget. In terms of components, there all essentially a wash. Go get a test ride or three.

The giant Defy has a compact crank 50/34 and 12/28 cassette, giving you a great gear ratio for climbing; it also has proven 105 components.
The Fuji has a standard crank and 11/26 cassette... with Rival components.
Some would say Rival is equal to 105, but IMHO 105 is a little above Rival... I'm a Shimano fan so take it with a grain of salt...

So, what kind of terrain are you riding? Do both fit you? ( I think both have a pretty good size range)

If you get the Fuji and you have lots of hills, maybe it won't work you... Are you in good shape? Is your terrain mostly flat? Then get the Fuji
Whichever you get, make sure you can get the stems swapped for the first few weeks so that you can really determine your fit
