David,
I think your being a bit cavalier with your view on "taking anyone" to
this level. Sure I can also count many that have done this but I can
count many more that with all the training in the world would not get
this time for their first or forty-first time even after some years of
buildup. Change the time variable to less than a year and the odds are
even less especially when coming out of the gate in 5 months AND
attacking the clock. The injury rate alone paves the way with broken
glass. If we unfairly make that a 50 year old female, this falls apart
even more but I'm sure you did not mean "anyone" and I'd go so far to
suggest you had best be very selective.

It's easy to look at reace results and say a 3:40n is the Nth percentile
but it does not say how many did not get to the starting line and that
number is typically in 40-50% range.

True, impressive, but anecdotal cases does make for a general "anyone"
statement.

Yes, I was meaning to say any male around my age, more
or less. Of course things change as one gets older.
