George: Classics Man or Climber or Superman?

Alright seriously now. I've seen the fervent responses in defense of
Georgie due to his frosty reception after the win in France on Sunday.
I get it. You argue that this guy has sacrificed a big part of his
career for the L-Factor in the TdF. And add that he's genuinely a nice
guy liked by pretty much everyone. Fine.

Now put all that aside and develop a picture of a nameless, faceless
racer who wins KBK and takes 2nd at Paris-Roubaix. You know those
courses and the riders they favor.

Now develop a picture of another nameless, faceless rider who wins a
stage three-quarters of the way through the TdF after supporting his
leader daily for the duration. Oh yeah, the stage has 54 km of climbing
at an average gradient of 7.96%.

I'm not saying anything just kicking around a remarkable set of facts.
But if he were from any other country wouldn't you stop to think about
how that could possibly come about against the best riders in the world
in these disparate races?

Now add in Plouay last Sunday and look at the peaks this season on the
calendar. And don't forget to factor in that he's going to win the San
Francisco Grand Prix this Sunday.

That is quite a season dontcha think?

PS...If he took Lance seriously at the tour and has any designs on
being a GC man he'd better get a charitable foundation going. They're
handy cards to pull when times get tough.

Oh yeah, for the jagoffs - here you go:

When the GP Plouay podium shot wears out it's welcome for the chubb
yanking click this link (warning: no nipples visible).

what, you're saying that a 175 pound classics rider
can't win a mountaintop stage of the tour?
thats like saying a 175 pound mediocre classics specialist
like Armstrong who has a jaw like frankenstein and a swollen
ass face can't become a 7 times tdf winner after
he loses all his muscle from having cancer, weird **** happens.
seriously, I always got the impression that hincapie
was underperforming his whole career, I'm not surprised
about plouy (jeremy hunt won it), but the stage in the tour, yeah that
was
some absurd stuff.
he's just another pure climber/classics
specialist/rolluer/opportunist/sprinter/domestique/time trial
specialist.

Not to mention the rest of the Yanks abroad: LA, Julich, Leipheimer,
Zabriskie, Horner, Danielson (soon) winning on Euro soil. Even Vandevelde
with a top 10 in Vuelta prologue!

Do you know of any pics of his face you can post links to that illustrate
this? I think it depends on the dose, and the person, but lots of
bodybuilders use the stuff and the signs seem to be swollen abdominal
areas, and weight gain, and gynecomastia. His face does look strange in
some pics; just thought you might know of some that show this to the best
extreme.

How so? I thought a straight-ahead shot showed GH's wheel touch the line
first.

Heh. Yeah that mountain win was uh, unexpected. Is it possible that some
riders agree to dope but don't know what they're getting in their saline
drip? Plausible denyability? ;->

Or Bugno, who won Tour of France stages in Bordeaux and on the top of
mountains (plus Tour of Flanders and Tour of Italy) or Chiappucci (sp)
who won a Tour of France stage at Sestrieres and also got 4th in
Flanders. Guys like that.

Bugno won Flanders as well.

Oh, I get it - you're telling us that SOMEHOW he's doping but no one
but you and Lafferty can tell.

Well, why didn't you just say so?
