Hi everyone:
While in HS I rode every day. Sometimes it was 6 miles, other times it was 30. I didn't really train too much. When I did, I sprinted or did a 20 mile loop. However, my diet was horrible. In any event, my friend and I went to two or three races a season(xc), and I usually took first in my age group, top three overall. ( Usually had about a min to a min and a half on people) However, I was only riding begginer.
I went to college, drank, partied, and didn't ride at all. Typical. This is my last year in college, and I want to get back into shape so that I can race again. But this time I want to step it up. I plan on getting a new bike, probably a specialized stumpjumper ( it's about all i can afford, but I have a stumpy right now, which is more of less dead, becuase I ran it into the ground, and don't think I would have another bike, anyway).
I was wondering if anyone can suggest a training regime that has worked for others. I want to at least do one race this season ( begginner). I then want to train throughout the winter so I can ride sport competetively. I am finally serious about training, and I absolutely love racing. If all goes well, I really want to take a year off after I graduate to simply race my bike. Anyway, thanks for your time and consideration.
