Dec 2nd is a long way from mid-November which is what most people were counting on. You sound very certain. Can anyone else second (pardon the pun) this rumor?

Thanks. This forum must be the first english source to reveal the giro announcement date. The sites you've listed are either spanish or italian. I checked the sites out (briefly), but couldn't find giro news.

I couldn't give you the exact link because ...well... it's old news, it was about 2 weeks ago that the news was on the Spanish and Italian sites. This isn't the first English site with the information . My site was.

I don´t this one would be the best giro never edited.
2005´s much better than 2006 and, with only this ones (Lavaredo, Zoncolan and briançon) than 2007.
We´ll wait and see till Dec. 2nd.

2007 Giro d'Italia includes mountain TT to remember Pantani

The 2007 Giro d'Italia will have a mountain time trial to remember Marco Pantani's win in the 1999 race. That year, the Italian climber won the stage to Oropa ahead of Laurent Jalabert and Gilberto Simoni while wearing the leader's maglia rosa. According to Tuttosport, the stage will cover the 13km and 757m of climbing from Biella to Oropa.

I like this move very much. I expected mountain TT in Tour, but there isn't one. Giro is really doing their best to attract the audience.

When confirmed I'll be booking my trip..... after last year at Plan de Corones I actually need to see a bike this time...

[left]OROPA, Italy, May 30 - Marco Pantani triumphed over crisis in the Giro d'Italia on Sunday to more than double his race lead.

Eight kilometres from the finish, at 1,144 metres in the Piedmont mountains, the Italian had to stop to untangle his chain and quickly lost 22 seconds on his rivals.

But by three kms from the line, outside the huge Santuario di Oropa monastery, he was in the lead, and raced home 21 seconds clear of former race leader Laurent Jalabert of France.

"I lost my morale when I saw my opponents were going away from me," Pantani said, "I felt better though as my team mates brought me closer to the race."

Pantani's gutsy fightback was too much for his chief threat, Italian Paolo Savoldelli, who is now one minute and 54 seconds adrift, but still second overall.

It also seemed to put pay to the rest of his challengers, yet Pantani was not feeling completely comfortable after finishing the 147 kms from Racconigi.

Despite his obvious mastery in the mountains, Pantani said he had not changed his decision to miss the Tour de France, which he won last year two months after winning the Giro.

"I am not thinking about the Tour and I certainly have no reason to change my mind," said Pantani.

Pantani's chain problem came as he shifted gear at the start of the Oropa ascent. His bike hit a pothole and the chain unshipped to stick between two gear cogs.

In the developing fray Pantani had to stop to make an adjustment, losing time at a vital stage.

His team mates dropped back to help pace their leader back to the battle, but attacks at the front, notably from Spain's Roberto Heras, had the Giro leader suffering.

Then came the fightback that took Pantani clear of everyone and left few doubts about who was in charge.

There are three days of respite before the Dolomites offer the final mountainous challenge in the countdown to next Sunday's Milan finale.

hey I was freezing my butt up there too ! And I was so proud that I figured out how to get there. HA !

To make up for it I was on Passo San Pellegrino, way early to get a good spot. So I did finally see a mountain finish.

[font=Verdana]Nice work; I actually stayed in Brunico so went straight on the ski life to Plan de Conrones.... therefore to see a bike I would have had to walk all the way down.... the idea of doing that with a wind chill factor at -30 was [font=Verdana]absurd[/font]. The annoying thing was the very next day it was clear blue sky's ![/font][font=Verdana][/font]

Man it was [censored] cold up there and i missed WBT.
