Glue for padding inside helmet

My son's BMX-style helmet came with big piece of flat foam right in the
top center, sort of flower petal shaped. It's come unglued. What sort
of glue would work to reattach it? I'd love try what I use for sewups,
which is 3M Fasttack, but don't know if that would work or if it would
eat up either surface.

Thanks - this is just one of those things where I figure experimenting
could ruin the helmet so I figured I'd ask before I tried anything.

I've fixed mine with 3M double sided tape.
They do a super-strong version, but I just used the lightweight stuff
from the office supply shop, worked fine.

hth,

Double sided tape or foam tape. Will work like a charm.

I'd try a small dab of FastTack on a noncritical surface inside the
helmet; if the foam doesn't collapse, you're probably safe using that
glue on the rest. On the other hand, I've found that I often have
better results by replacing such dedicated die-cut foam pads using
strips of sticky-back weatherstripping from the hardware store; I just
put dots of it inside the helmet instead of strips, and increase the
air flow in the process.

Thanks, everyone. We'll give 2-sided tape a try first.

Before choosing an adhesive, you will do well to wait for JB's history
of the development of helmet glue.

......"In the beginning, riders used track glue to afix the pads, which
were made of pieces of fatally wounded silk sew-ups, to the inside of
their hand carved, balsa wood helmet shells".....

I used GOOP adhesive to good effect for most all things like this.
It is something like silicon rubber like stuff.
