Not a failure to explain - I fully understand what you've proposed (each time). I have a relatively high mechanical aptitude and a background understanding of bicycles and components.
My point was that the solutions provided require a more than basic understanding of bicycles to comprehend the implications of the changes and a mechanical aptitude to implement. More a comment on the audience than the information. Some will have the aptitude and persistence to make their way through the information, but many won't.
