Look at a Pedersen parked next to Boardman's monocoque track
bike some time.

You are focusing on the differences and ignoring the
substantial similarities. The differences in geometry look
more pronounced on a 'bent than on a wedgie, but they are
not enormous from a coneptual standpoint. Seat angles versus
frame angles, seat heights versus handlebar types.

I have decided that I will only capitalize the first letter
in the word Rans. That way Tom and Guy will always have
something to post about.

It is how the rider is placed on the frame that matters.
Compare a SWB like the Volae to a LWB like a Tour Easy. Now
compare a K-Mart Special to a Tommasini. The former are very
different and the latter are very similar.

There are also two bikes that are being overlooked and
probably grossly under rated and those are the Cycle Genius
RDX and LTX LWB OSS. Great prices with quality and
performance that will easily rival those of the Easy Racers.
Of course these haven't been around that long so there is a
good excuse as to why most aren't aware of them;-)

I took a look... seem a tad clunky looking (not enough to
keep me from riding one, and may be an engineering
necessity).... also, no weight was listed (that I could
find).... good prices... could be great prices if the
weight is good.

For $1,300 bucks give or take...you're not going to find a
sub 25 lb. wonder bike;-) I believe the RDX was listed in a
past edition of Recumbent Cyclist News as weighing about 32
lbs. My friend's large frame Tour Easy weighs in at 33 1/2
lbs. and costs almost $1,000 more!

The CG frames are robust and heavier than some bikes in
their class but at the same time they're so stiff that power
transmission is superior and makes for a more efficient,
faster and easier to pedal bike.

Conversely, the primary reasons I have seen for people
selling their SWB bicycles is numb feet from the high bottom
bracket and sore neck from the laid back position.

That's a mighty claim Ed, care to back it up with some
FACTS?

Gabe,

I really think there are no such "FACTS" to present. It's
all subjective opinions just like anything. I am familiar
with your bikes as I have several riding buddies who own
either a Tour Easy or a Gold Rush and I have ridden them
myself. Hey, they're great bikes and I have no bones to
pick about the selling prices. I know they're made here in
the good 'ol US of A. Quite frequently, I am a defender of
the BiGHa recumbent which is also a USA made product of
great quality.

Now as to my remark, again, it's subjective. I've had the
opportunity to ride not the new LWB's from Cycle Genius but
the original CG-24 and was most impressed with the
efficiency in which the frame and drivetrain transmitted all
my pedaling effort. This little bike is pretty quick and the
quality is better than it's price would tell. The STX which
is made with a cromo mix frame and the 20 inch front wheel
is no doubt a step up in better performance so it's quite
logical to safely assume that the two LWB's are going to
perform even better still. Look at the component specs and
how the frame is triangulated and the fact that they're made
out of aluminum. This means no wasted effort due to frame
flex. Also notice how clean the chainline is which means
efficiency.

My comment was not meant to be a slam against your bikes but
a recognition of a company which I feel is being overlooked
and underated. No doubt, due to their low selling prices,
the RDX and the LTX will be billed as "entry level" and
compared to the Easy Sport twins (steel and aluminum) or the
new Burley LWB's. I think a potential buyer labeled as an
"enthusiast" who demands a serious bike but is on a budget
would do well on one of the Cycle Genius and not have
nothing to envy a TE or RANS Stratus rider. That is just my
opinion and nothing else.

On my budget it would take me about 5-6 months to save for
an RDX and nearly twice as long for a Tour Easy. But if I
were to win the lottery or get that elusive six figure a
year career, I would probably buy a Ti Rush;-)
