I am looking ot put together a good all-around tool kit for minor fixes. I know some of the tools I will need, but I might as well ask for the entire list... What tools should I get to allow me to perform the most rudimentary adjustments/repairs on my bike?
A favorite tool of mine that park dosen't make a version of is Pamir Engineerings Hypercracker. It'll remove a cassettes lockring using the bikes frame, chain and crank. It is bottleopener sized and allows trail (or road) side repair of busted spokes (drive side- the most frequently broken in my experience). You'll also need the right length spokes, nipples, and a good spoke wrench. One might argue that it's easier to carry the kevlar spoke for mid-ride repair. If given a nice spot to work on my bike (anyplace but the shoulder of a major highway), I'd rather take care of it right the first time and call it good.
One last thing, this tool will amaze your friends.
