My favourite affordable brand is Nalini, although Vermarc and Santini are priced ok. These brands seem to be dominating the pro bib market at the moment, but there's also Giordana, GSG...............that's all I can think at the minute

I cringed at the thought of paying $250 for some "pro" bib shorts, so I did a little research, and found this site referenced by a few others:

I ordered a pair of bib shorts and fell in love with them. They're fantastic, made in the USA, and extremely reasonably priced. I now have four pair. Check 'em out.

Performance shorts and Bibs have always seemed a fair value to me. I've used the Century shorts and bibs for many years now. They're not fancy, but very serviceable and seem to fit me right.

Above that in price they have the Elite and Ultra lines. The "Ultra" is made with a swiss waffle-weave materal as well as an italian molded chamois. Wore the Ultra bib on a couple of long rides last season. The molded chamois stays in place to minimize chaffing and the open weave really seems to wick the sweat well. The material might be a bit delicate (ie, snag-prone) but staying dry on long hot rides is a good thing.

Buying online is always a bit uncertain. They have a big retail store on the north side of the Chicago metro area to see and try on before you buy. Can't recall the exact location, but I'm sure you can find the address on their website.
