So? What does that have to do with the question? How many would
    pay? Probably most.

It's a moot question, as it wouldn't come up.

    Geez you are dense.

Har har. Got your goat! You're too easy.

You really have to learn to lighten up.

Or I could keep messing up your stupid off-topic [censored]. That's way more

brief, usually less than five minutes. What do people have to talk
about that they need to be on the phone constantly..

Sheldon, you're gonna love this... Back when I was teaching in Japan, my
rule was all phones must be either turned off or else turned to silent,
and no 'making or taking calls' during class. (I was 'easy.' Most profs
wouldn't allow them to even be visible during classes or they would take
    them away.)

As soon as the bell would ring or I'd dismiss the class, most of the
students would be instantly on their phones. I walked over to one girl,
and discovered that she was talking to another girl.... on the other
side of the class room. Normal size room, not an auditorium. Just 20
feet away... chatting on the phone together!! I took the phone from the
first girl, complemented the other girl on her test score that day, and
handed the phone back to the first girl so they could continue to talk
on the phone.... 20 feet apart!

I've often see people walking down the street apparently talking to
themselves, loudly... like some wino was released from the psycho
ward... but no, these idiots have teeny-tiny hands-free thingies. But
still, the conversing is totally inane... "I'm walking down the street
now. I'm at the corner. The light is red. Now it's green. Okay, two
more blocks to go. I'll be there in two minutes. I'm almost there.
I see you now. I'm there." Then once they're together face to face
they have lunch in absolute silence. They do belong in that padded
    cell.

    Good or bad investment?

Since when is any electronic gadget an investment?

I use mine to make my work more efficient.

But I won't get an iPhone.

Aside from the multi-kilogram bills (which can be opted-out
of), there's a $100/year maintenance cost to replace
    the battery.

i'm on the u.s. do not call list, and it works pretty well for me. i
get the occasional charity call, and say, 'sorry, i can't help you.'
    no biggie.

i did get a call a couple days ago, from someone saying he was not a
marketer or surveyor, but asked me if i ever wondered why a just god
allows bad things to happen to good people. i said, 'no, i'm an
    atheist, goodbye.'

Maybe if you spent some time you'd get one that was actually funny or
    clever or something.

comp.sys.mac.hardware are probably a lot better sources for opinions

I guess I was wrong about investing. I'm dumping my 401k and IRA and
investing in a I Phone instead. Can't argue with all those features.

This is a software hack. If you don't know what that is, think twice
about this. It is not authorized by Apple, AT&T or Tmobile. It will
cost you US$20.00. There is a reason why the phone is locked, because
Apple and AT&T have a deal. The name of the above site is flaky. It
    will only work with Tmobile.

There is more information available on the alt.cellular newsgroup, but
    not much.
