Simoni trashes Basso and Cunego as the Giro approaches. We need more of this in the peloton. Otherwise we will end up with the colorless corporate shills that drive in F1.

Yes, well those would be two of his favorite riders... referring to Basso as being only interested in money and Cunego as not being a 'real' rider but someone 'constructed' by his DS.

Interesting that he chooses to wax poetic about Ricco, and how they have an excellent rappor together, etc, etc.

Gibo's statements always make good copy.
I remember him giving out about Savoldelli too, a couple of years ago.
At the end of that Giro - they shook hands!
Before that "war", he used to lash out at Stefano Garzelli!

I have to agree with BD, the man adds a bit of colour to the sport.
I'm not sure that he actually believes a lot of what he says about his other fellow competitors.
He's a character - and a bloody good cyclist too boot.

I just look at Formula 1 and think that Eddie Irvine was the last driver who had anything interesting to say. I would not want cycling to turn into a situation where all the riders have to act like corporate spokesmen. Guys like Simoni keep it interesting.
