  1. Reading the message boards, I notice a couple of people have had the
same problem I have had. I purchased a Timex speed and distance and few
months-I had no problems (no signal loss, weak signal, etc). Recently,
the I started getting lost signals almost all the time on the same
route I run when it worked perfectly. I returned the watch for a new
one and have had the same problem. I also bought the garmin forerunner
and I think thats even worse. I noticed others have had the same
problem of it first working and then not. I thought it might be leafy
trees but it seems to happen in with no cover.
Curious what people experiences are and how the solved them.

Which Forerunner did you get? I've been using the 201 up until a few
weeks ago. I've had some issues with it, but that was almost always due
to tree cover on trails. On the roads I had no problems. I recently
started using the 305, which includes a heart rate monitor. The x05
series of forerunners use a SiRFstarIII chip set, so they acquire
satellites faster and stay locked on better than the x01 series (even
under tree canopy or "urban canyons"😉. It does seem odd to me that your
device would work, but then suddenly stop working, even with 2 different
types of technology. I'd call Garmin support and see if they have any
ideas. I once had a problem with my 201. Garmin support was very quick
to replace my device with a new one, since it was under their 6-month
warranty. That's one reason I stayed with Garmin rather than Polar.

  3. It could have something to do with the Timex satellite being made of
    paper mache and tin foil.
