  1. Hi, Has anyone walked Hadrians wall? Is it easy going? Would
3 days be enough to complete it? Regards Graham

If you do the lot it's about 70 miles and I wouldn't do it
in 3 days, though clearly that could be done. However, in my
view such a decision would be daft. The best section around
Housesteads and Vindolanda is worthy of the 3 days in itself
if you've never visited before. The Roman excavations at
each are worth several hours of time. In fact, if time is a
consideration you'd be much better off missing out the
boring parts at both the beginning and the end.

There's way too much history and scenery there - you
couldn't do it justice in 3 days.

Also, there was something on the local news here a while ago
criticising the way that the local tourist board was
promoting the wall as walkable. They were advertising
"local" B&B's as being suitable stopping-off points for
people walking the length of the walk, but many of these
were a fair distance away from the route along the wall
itself. You could end up spending more time trekking between
wall and B&B than actually walking the wall itself. So plan
    carefully.

Agree totaly. I hopefully will backpack this route in May
but have walked the Housteads area before. Take your time in
the centre section there is much to take in so slow down and
enjoy. It is a new trail so facilities are still limited but
hopefully when the area "gears up" to us more will follow.
PS Iam struggling to find a campsite in the Walton area
    anyone any suggestions ?
