  1. We have about 20 RSVPs. The menu as it stands at the moment:

Curried pumpkin soup (Thai style -- fish sauce, coconut milk, lime
    leaves, shrimp paste)

Green Salad with Fruit and Feta

No-knead bread (2 loaves, one to hold spinach dip)

    Spinach dip

Devilled eggs with the filling dyed red

    Kettle corn

    Severed-finger cookies:

Jello brain mold with cranberries, walnuts, and whipped cream

    Mini caramel apples

Spicy Apple Cakes with Vanilla Cream Sauce

    Witches Brew Fruit Punch

    Mulled Cider

Carin has already made the cakes and caramel apples. I just started
the jello, and the bread is starting its long rise. Tonight, I'll
make spinach dip and do some prep for the soup (cutting up the
pumpkin, etc.). Tomorrow, I'll make the soup and the bread and the
kettle corn. Carin's doing the salad and drinks, and James is making
the devilled eggs unless Carin talks him out of it (she thinks
    there'll be too much food).

"Leave the matter of religion to the family altar, the church,
and the private schools, supported entirely by private
contributions. Keep the church and the state forever separated."
