Hammer advances to gold-medal final with new American record

Sarah Hammer took the first step towards defending her world title in the womenandrsquo;s three-kilometer individual pursuit by advancing to Friday nightandrsquo;s gold medal match at the 2007 UCI Track World Championships. Hammer recorded the fastest time in the morningandrsquo;s qualifying session when she rode a 3:31.359 to lower her own American record for the second time in five months. Also on Friday morning, Brad Huff easily qualified for the men's 15-kilometer scratch race final and Jennie Reed placed 15th and Neva Day placed 24th in the sprint and pursuit respectively.
