Handmade tyres - what does it really mean?

When a company like Veloflex or Challenge or Continental use the label hand made on their tyres, what does it actually mean?

Whatever it means, I can tell you that the Challenge Elite Open that I put on a bike over the holidays ride like an absolute dream.

Ummm, I think *all* fabric-belt tires are still hand-made, as of a few years ago. There's one stage of the carcass manufacturing that no company has been able to totally automate...

So then,,,, it means,,,, not a whole lot? (-at least in as much as claiming the "handmade" distinction goes-)

Yep, as he said. Same is true for most wheelsets over $400 -they are all handbuilt.
