I extracted the digit over the course of this week and actually fiddled with the frame. Stripped pretty much all the paint off it the other day and removed a couple of extraneous bits with hacksaw and files this afternoon. Unfortunately whoever put this frame together is not in the SuzyJ league. I was filing off brass splashed on the lugs and tubes/stays a good ?-½" away from the join! Some areas looked like they'd been finished off with an angle grinder. "rough as guts" is the phrase that comes irresistably to mind. I put a fair bit of time into filing areas smooth, but I can see that there's going to be smears of filler involved here and there. Oh well. I'm commited to creating a silk purse from a sow's ear now so we'll see what happens.
