Lance responded today.

Velonews posted an article yesterday too...

http://www.velonews.com/article/90320/lance-armstrong-says-he-is-outraged-over-claims-that-he

... and on the same day that the story hit the fan! Maybe the rest of the world should appologize to you for not being so on the ball as the the whereabout of Lance and what he's been upto as you are.
Actually, WBT is spot on. In another thread posted in the GT section on April 6th by poulidor http://cyclingforums.com/t467943.html (all of the american articles are from April 7) there is a link to a french article discussing the time delays during the test. Sporza.be also reported it on the 6th. I remember checking cyclingnews and velonews for info that day and also found it interesting that they waited at least 24 hours, more in some cases, to report anything.

Thank-you. In actual fact the French article was from the 4th. Poulidor posted it on the 5th. Cyclingnews did not report till the 7th and others much later. You see when the only food you eat is cyclingnews like Mr. Swampy you start to believe its the only news. Bad diet going on there.

As per other post: schoolboy research error on your behalf. Oh dear. Just a simple apology from you will be enough suffice. The rest of the world can just laugh at your poor research methodology. :p

This below is on the Times website as a new story posted today. Is this 'charge' a new development? Wonder if this is related to the Giro changing its route to avoid riding in France (yes, they blame the snow but we all love a good conspiracy here).

Lance Armstrong could face punishment from the French anti-doping agency after it claimed the seven-time Tour de France champion violated its rules.

French doctors did not find any traces of drugs when they tested Armstrong's hair, urine and blood in a test on March 17. However, the agency, known as the AFLD, claims the American breached its rules on testing procedure, saying "Armstrong did not respect the obligation to remain under the direct and permanent observation of the tester".

The AFLD says it is can impose sanctions on the American rider, but didn't indicate what they would be.

Balls... to this all. You are approached by someone who normally comes with an escort, with dodgy looking papers, wanting to take blood. I think he was perfectly within rights to check with UCI. It could easily be an official reporter or even worse a wannabe reporter .....

sure. that is plausible.

but phone the uci from your doorstep, or your garage. No need to invite a hypothetical imposter inside.

But you need to be vigilant, and maintain the protocol, and not be out of sight of this potential officer. You don't have to flop out your schloeng, and it is well known Armstrong is a little gun shy, in flopping it out, cos he ain't exactly hung like traitor.

He's gonna get banned from riding in France. ;)

last night the Giro organisers change the route of the big mountains stage so its not going into France over the Vars and the Izoard.
So unlike the situation where by Valv.piti can't ride the tour if he's banned in Italy, Lance will still be able to ride the Giro.

In a witch hunt you have no rights. Vengeance trumps all (except hate and fear). This is great soap opera "As the wheel turns" stuff complete with real life drama. (even worse a wannabe reporter ..... or a cycling forums assasin!!!! stay tuned for tomorrows episode)

I already said all that. ;)

The French have gone and got him on a technicality in lieu of getting an actual, straight forward positive. Looks like he'll have to ramp up that programme for the Giro as it's going to be his only big show of the year. Contador will be gutted.

Sorry, didn't see you'd already posted that. But they're not even blaming snow, their blaming radio frequencies and traffic:D

Blaming radio frequencies really does add credence to the notion that the change is to allow Armstrong to ride.

Sure. If that's what it was all about. Which it ain't. What it is about is Armstrong disappearing in the meantime for 20-30 minutes.

Leafer,

At the end of races I have seen tester's chase cyclists which seems a mile more effort than this guy put in. If there was doubt that he was legit then as a heavily publicised and hounded athlete I would not want the individual into my home.

The LFND have to take some responsibility as I am sure this is not the first LFND test performed on Team Astana this year. It seems as if there was just cause to doubt the person's identity based on his documents, actions, arriving alone but more than anything else, when Lance said I am off for my shower the tester did and said nothing.

Coudl you imagine walking through customs and being asked to step into a cubicle but just asking if before that you could 'ALONE' pop to the loos!!!!!

This is ***** ... the ASO should just not invite Astana to any of their events if they feel so strongly.

AFLD say that despite several repeated warnings Armstrong failed to stay with sight of the tester. He's farked!:D :D :D :D

you would think the world's most tested athlete would remember the bit about being within sight of the tester at all times, even if there were questions about the credentials or if both parties present agreed to the shower absence.

Do you have a source for this? All I currently see are quotes from Armstrong and Bruyneel to the contrary. I think Bruyneel will pull the whole Astana team if Lance is block.
