Has this headset gap been my problem?

I'm experimenting with a new stem, and it's not the same size as my stock Specialized stem. I notice a little bit a play in the headset/fork area after everything is tight. I think I need to squeeze an additional spacer in there. Yes? Thanks

Yes you do. It's always nice to have a 10 or 15mm spacer left over that can be cut down a bit to fill such a gap. Those gaps always appear when changing stems that have differing steerer clamp stack heights.

Cool. Thanks. I'm going to pick up a set of spacers tomorrow.
