    Hi

The lighter rim is easier to accelerate, but once rolling which rim is then the easiest to keep at a constant speed? Light or heavy?

    Thx

    Jalabert,

The difference in weight between a light and heavy wheel set would no practical difference for maintaining constant speed.

The real trade off that people need to consider is extra weight for a more aero wheel. For flat time trial the extra weight is worth it to have better aerodynamics, but for short sprints or hill climbs, it may not.

    Regards,
    Harrow.

A heavier rim will generate greater torque so will be easier to keep going at constant speed than a lighter rim. As you stated, it will be harder to change speeds (in either direction) with a heavy rim.
