Height and weights of the pros

Jan does look pretty chubbo in those photos, compared to the Tour every year. About Hamilton, I just aquired one of his CSC wind jackets from 2002 and it is the smallest medium I have ever seen! The guy is a twig!

He might not be 'chubby' by popular standards , but by cycling standards , he looks like Chubby Checker's Chubby son Chubster.

Jan's new hairdo will also make him 'appear' chubbier. Truth is he is building up to the Tour and probably trying not to recreate that situation he was in lasst year when he lost a lot of weight in a short period of time. Isn't there some guy from Eastern Europe that is around 50kg. He had an incident with Baden Cooke at one race in 2003 i think, if my memory of an interview with Baden serves me well.

It is early April -- look at his super-round face, and the extra amounts on his cheek in beneath his chin. I hope he can get into shape.

He can lose weigth in one month or even less, like last year! With all doctors and medicine that must not be a problem..:)

If he does do that like he did last year , he will have an equally disappointing result like he did last year.
The chubby bastad never learns.

Exactly why lance keeps winning and jan does no better then 2nd...his head.

I see that you know why Jan can`t beat Lance! Then hope Jan won`t read that hehe..:D

By cycling standards he is more of a fat f*ck.

I thought I remembered reading somewhere that his genetic potential is superhuman, and higher than Mr. Armstrongs... but he prefers to party and eat. It is his life though, not mine so I am not going to complain about what a waste of talent it is...me well I'm just a waste of effort. :D

There is hope for us tall guys yet... I noticed from the podium pics that Boonen looked to be a rather tall guy (about the same as Hincapie, who is tall), so I did a search and it seems there are a lot of bigger guys out there now... Here is a list I found on bikeforums, that was taken from Velonews a while back:
ROAD RACERS

Michel Zanoli (Nl) 6ft 7.5ins (1m97) 200lbs (91kg)

Bernd Gröne (G) 6ft 7ins (1m96) 191lbs (87kg)

Marcel Sieberg (G) 6ft 4 3/4 (1m95) 163lbs (74kg)

Mario Scirea (I) 6ft 4.4ins (1m94) 178lbs (81kg)

Jan Valach (Svk) 6ft 4.4ins (1m94) 172lbs (78kg)

Magnus Bäckstedt (S) 6ft 4ins(1m93) 198lbs (90kg)

Remig Stumpf (G) 6ft 4ins (1m93) 191lbs (87kg)

Eros Poli (I) 6ft 4ins (1m93) 189lbs (86kg)

Ed. Van Hooydonck (B) 6ft 4ins (1m93) 174lbs (79kg)

Tom Leaper (Aus) 6ft 4ins (1m93) 172lbs (78kg)

Jérôme Neuville (F) 6ft 3.5ins (1m92) 187lbs (85kg)

Patrick Eyk (Nl) 6ft 3.5ins (1m92) 183lbs (83kg)

Tom Boonen (B) 6ft 3.5ins (1m92) 176lbs (80kg)

Dave Mann (GB) 6ft 3ins (1m91) 190lbs (86.3kg)

George Hincapie (USA) 6ft 3ins (1m91) 169lbs (77kg)

TRACK RACERS

Carsten Bergemann (G) 6ft 5ins (1m96) 213lbs (96kg)

Ken Carpenter (USA) 6ft 4ins (1m93) 230lbs (104.5kg)

Sören Lausberg (G) 6ft 3ins (1m91) 226lbs (103kg)

Marty Nothstein (USA) 6ft 2ins (1m88) 215lbs (97kg)

Soren Lausberg is a monster. He should be on the wing for the All Blacks, not racing 1km TTs.

Obviously, it's easier to be a non-climbing specialist/person not tryingto win the GC in a Grand Tour, if one is not on the heavier side. There are some tall guys who are skinnier, I would imagine.
