Eddy Hellebuyck, 46, is able to set a strong example for his high
school runners, too. The young Hellebuyck (writer refers to Eddy's
son) has an excellent role model in his father, the man who will be
racing down Transmountain on Sunday morning in search of $5,000 and a
record -- yet another record in a life of running. It is what Eddy
Hellebuyck does, what he has almost always done.

Just an excerpt above. You won't believe this whole article - nothing
but glowing praise, respect, and admiration for Eddy Hellebuyck - not
one word of mention of his 2004 TWO-YEAR Ban from The United States
Anti-Doping Agency.
The praise was so outrageous I contacted the publisher, editor, and
the writer himself, emailed them and used their article as a wonderful
example of poor journalism. They write a whole feature on Eddy of
praise, "strong example for his high school runners", "excellent role
model", blah blah blah and not one word of mention of his 2 year Drug
Cheat ban? Isn't that hilarious. Eddie was chased out of the
Colorado running community when he was caught cheating and banned - he
was asked to leave his job as a running coach for highschool kids in
Colorado when he lost his credibility as a mentor for youth (with his
cheating).
The internet forums/Master runner community was very [censored] if you
recall and were on the top running forums sites then. Eddy was going
around from race to race, winning $5K here, another $3K there etc. all
the while doping up (most likely) and the masters community was [censored]
because the clean runners who are working jobs, raising families, etc.
and running when they can were deprived of possible prize money.
This week we saw Marion Jones give her Olympic medals back - did Eddy
Hellebuyck give back the prize money? Of course not.
Isn't it funny? Could anyone write glowingly about Barry Bonds or
Marion Jones or any of the drug cheats, call them "strong and
excellent" examples and role models to youth, etc., refer to their
records and achievements and not say one word about drugs and
cheating? Eddy's got Barry Bonds beat and was BANNED for 2 years, but
this Article Above on Eddy? Perfect role model for kids, great
runner, on and on.
Eddy did not cheat one you all. He got caught once and banned once,
like most cheaters - those impressive records, if you think they were
earned "clean", you're a bigger fool than the writer of this article
and this rag called the El Paso Times.
Yes, I wrote the writer/editor/publisher directly and illustrated that
article as to why they are a half-ass rag paper. It's unbelievable
really.
