l am guilty of buying an expensive helmet.
l have a specialized helmet that l shelled out for purely for its look and feel on my head. It just fitted nicely.
l searched high and low for a helmet that l liked.Now l need to get another as mine is 7 yrs old ( they have a shelf life of 3-5yrs) and lm dreading looking for one again. 🙁

It's my first helmet and decided to get one from there rather than Kmart or similar because it's very comfortable, can be adjusted very easily, and I figured if it's going to save my life I may as well not scrimp on it!

I got very upset a couple of weeks ago as I was about to go out when I realised I couldn't find my helment anywhere! I searched my place high and low and was hoping that one of my flatmates had borrowed it. Another one of my flatmates had a spare helmet and so I borrowed it. When the next day came 'round and it hadn't surfaced I had given up all hope. I went into the SRC that afternoon and guess what I saw sitting next to the computer? My helmet! I realised that I had cycled home the day before not even realising I wasn't wearing a helmet! So that afternoon I wore my much-missed helmet and realised how lucky I was to be wearing a helmet that fitted my head perfectly.

I like my helmet because I have worn the same helmet from the day I started learning how to cycle. I like it because I personally decorated it with reflective tape. I like it because it has travelled far and wide with me and although it hasn't had the chance to save my life just yet, I'm sure it will one day.

That's a great story - obviously the perfect helmet for you. How lucky that your helmet was still right where you left it.

I went to Supergo a few weeks ago and found an '04 Giro Atmos on sale for $101. The '05's were selling for $189. I didn't expect to buy a helmet of that quality, but I couldn't resist the price. So now it's mine. And, hopefully, I'll never need it to save my life.

I used to use: bell, then went to specialized queen cobra--this year purchased a las b/c it fits great and has a lot of ventilation. (I have psoriasis on my scalp, I used to break out on my forehead w/my old helmet that lacked vents). Giro's do not fit my head.

The las was an awful lot of money but worth it and I get teh 5 years out of each helmet. (cost the same as the specialized)
