Hi. I'm a beginner cyclist I guess. I'm a runner, and cycling as cross training while i'm semi-injured. I really like it though, and plan on cycling a lot more, 3 or 4 times a week, 20-50 miles at a time, maybe more. Maybe train for a Duathlon. I almost never ride on trails, and would like a road bike, but that's about all I know. I would like to bike year round too, so if I need anything special to do that in snow/slush, please let me know, Thank you!

That would be hehe, sorry. $500-1000 preferably. Is that totally unreasonable? And in the suberbs. Long Island. Fairly busy while riding from my house to the bike paths, but once i'm there it's fine.

Check out the Trek 1.2, Felt Z100 (or Z95), Cannondale CAAD8 Sora, and Giant Defy 3. Those are all great bikes under $1,000. Snow/cold riding is all about proper clothing, which will cost you a small fortune. A non-slick tire will also be a requirement.
