HELP! Hydraulic brake AND Headshok questions

I just bought a used Cannondale Raven, and have two questions about it:

1) On the test ride, I noticed that the Headshok made a slight knocking
sound every time it returned to its non-compressed position. Is this
normal? If not, what's wrong with it?

2) The front brake is an after-market Magura hydraulic. Neither I nor
the people at the bike store could figure out how to open the thing up
to take the front wheel off. IS there a way, or do I just have to
deflate the tire and squish it through between the brake pads every
time?

Thanks!

There's an accessory QR unit that allows removal of one of the slave
cylinders. It's on this Magura page:

and can also be seen on this Magura USA page:

1) Most likely you have a small amount of air in your fork's cartridge.
It usually just requires an oil change, but if any of the internal
parts are damaged the cartridge will need to be returned to the factory.
It is also possible that the fork telescope needs to be reset because
the bearings have migrated, but I think this is less likely.

2) What Jeff said.
