Hi there,

My documentation for my bike states that the spokes/nipples are "Specialized 2.0mm (14g), stainless, brass nipples, L293/R293mm front, L292/R290mm rear"

I need to tighten a few spokes and so need to purchase a spoke key, however the range of spoke key sizes available is:

  • 3.22mm /80 ga./.127 nipple
    [*]3.3mm /80 ga./.130 nipple
    [*]3.45mm /80 ga./.136 nipple
    [*]3.96mm /105 ga./.156 nipple
None of these seem appropriate for my 2.0mm spokes. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the terminology/specifications - can someone help me please?!

You need to find a Specialized dealer that stocks some spoke wrenches. Even knowing that they are 2.0 mm = 14 g doesn't tell you which wrench fits.
"The SW-0 (black handle) is sized for 3.22mm (0.127") nipples and fits Wheelsmith®, Marwi® and DT®, Edco® as well as other brands of nipples.
The SW-1 (green handle) 3.3mm /80 ga./.130 nipple
The SW-2 (red handle) 3.45mm /80 ga./.136 nipple
The SW-3 (blue handle) 3.96mm /105 ga./.156 nipple"

as per Park Tool at URL:

If I had to guess, I would go for the SW-0 black handle

Thanks daveornee. I asked Specialized via their website and they just responded saying "Your spokes are 2.0 mm. 14g nipples", which, of course, I already knew - real helpful! I've asked them again!
