I ride a 5 year old Waterford (reynolds tubing, ultegra compenents, chris king headset.) Solid basic bike. I currently have lower end mavic rims. I mostly touring, some hills and an occasional time trial. I would like to upgrade my wheels and want something that is pretty much all purpose. I want to spend a max of $700 all in. Any suggestions?

Mavic Ksyrium Elites ...... absolutely bombproof ..... great easily adjusted hubs, bladed spokes, no rim tape, competitive weight and a sexy black look that complements any bike.

If you can increase the budget look at Mavic Kryserium SSC SLs. I used to have Mavic Open Pros with Ultegra hubs...what a difference. The K's are stiffer and faster. The Open Pros would react to road bumps...the K's just gently 'thud' and keep going. Yes, stiffer wheels are more comfortable. They feel more secure in the curves during decsents...you can really lean into them.
I'm a big fan and well worth the money.
