However, if you've decided on the Trek, a friend who has one is very happy with it. It's a nice looking bike, and the only part that he doesn't like about the bike is the Matrix wheels. Whichever bike you choose, I hope you're happy with it and get many miles out of it. :)

The Raceline Pave does not seem to have a carbon fork, so it may not be in the same group as the others. Personally, I would go for the Specialized Allex Elite from Spin Cycle. I like the colour scheme

Hi cletues,

Just called the guy who is offering around $18-1900, and it's definately a new 2004 model, with the full 105 and funky bontrager wheels. It sounds like an OK offer as the last 2 calls I made were offered $2399.

Sounds like a good deal then!
Jump on it.

Since you went down to Freedom Machine can you tell me how many Specialised road bikes they had at the cheaper price ~$1600?? If they have a few, it might be worth checking them out

Ah - that's the name of the Specialised I was referring to earlier on sale at Freedom Machine (ex-Tassie challenge). Spin City is owned by Freedom Machine - they keep the Giants and Scotts in the original store and have moved the Avantis and introduced Specialised into the new one. Or so I'm told. :)

Aaagh... Spin Cycle, not Spin City. Too much TV, methinks...

Hey Pow,

I didn't end up going to TFM or Spin Cycle. I sat on my butt and made a few calls looking for Specialised, however no bikes running 105's that were under $1600.
Then I checked out the local shops and ended up going for a long ride. (my LBS has an Avanti Giro that's tagged @ $1799 however he said he'd help me out and do appx $1600)

I think I have set my mind on the TREK 1400 at $1850 as I love the bike and the price is awesome.

I believe that the ex-Tassie Challenge Avanti Kona's were going for $1500+ depending on the condition @ Spin Cycle.

Cheers
