Seems to me that Heras needs to choose a large, Spanish Pro Continental squad so that he has a good chance of riding the Vuelta. Does he care about any other race?

Of course, we might ask what is the value of a ProTour license these days? The teams don't get an automatic invite to the GTs or half of the other big races, and they are forced to ride events no one cares about like the TdU and Poland and Eneco. For those great benefits, you get to pay the UCI a hefty fee.
