You do realize that pro cyclists are paid by advertising budgets and those budgets are based upon
fans watching live or on TV don't you? Without the nobody fans, pro cycling doesn't exist. Maybe you
forgot that pro cycling is a business? How's the bottom line on your chunk of it?

The TdF is the biggest spectacle in bicycling. More people watch it than any other single event. If
you're going to win anywhere, you want to win there. That's where the big money is.

What was the last pro race you won? Have you ever won a multi-stage pro race?

At least I've heard of Van Petegem outside this group before. Yes, he's a great rider and big on the
world cup standings though he seems to be down in 29th place right now whereas Lance is in 7th and
you're ranked where? When was the last time you beat Lance in an ITT (the race of truth)?

If you're going to try to pretend that you're better than him, you'd better beat him at least some
of the time.

I think you probably miss the point. Obviously there are many excellent bicycle racers. Obviously
there are many important racing events. Obviously Lance Armstrong doesn't win all of them nor does
anyone else since it is a competitive sport with many excellent riders. But that isn't a reason to
disrespect a man who is one of those excellent bicycle racers. You certainly know better than I how
difficult it is to compete in the TdF, let alone to win it. Why shouldn't a winner of 5 of them
deserve some respect? You can compete against him, beat him sometimes, lose to him sometimes and
still have some respect for him and his ability to compete. You don't have to like him personally
but disrespect simply doesn't make any sense. That's the point, I think.

You are correct in that we are interested only in relevant bicycle races and riders.

France's only relevance is as the host of the Tour DAY france.
