What are the differences between the cassettes of these two series? I have a 7-speed Giant Kronos that I just got, and the high end is only a 13t. I'm trying to find an 11t that can replace it, but I found an HG-50 and an HG-70, both 11-19t, and I'm not sure which one to get. Phil, Squid-in-Training

The HG70 has a silver-colored (nickel?) plating, while the HG50 looks like bare steel. IMO there's no practical difference, no difference in wear, so the HG50 is probably the better buy. HG90 cassettes are actually chrome plated, which may last longer -- but again, I haven't been able to detect a difference. I go through a cassette a year no matter what. Matt O.
