I know this is a bit of a specific request considering how international the membership here is, but can anyone advise me of some good hills in the London area. Even within 50 miles will do. Its just been annoying me that I can't find any hilly routes unless I join a club.
Thanks in advance
Rich

Can't think of any good hilly routes in London. I grew up in the Chiltern Hills about 30 miles to the north west of town, plenty of hills out there. Amersham is a good point to get to as it's the last stop on the Metropolitan line. From there you'll immediately find hills in any direction. If you head off from there in the direction of the Great Missenden type area and over to the Wendover area there are some nice peaceful county lanes with lots of hills if you prefer a more peaceful ride.

Richthere's no hills in London, because you're all soft southerners ;-)
you have to go up north (Peaks, Pennines, Lakes, Scotland) or out to the west (Wales).
Ric (Mancunian, temporary southerner, and now Welsh!!)
(if you travel down to Brighton, there's Ditchling Beacon which is about a mile long)

Go and do 50 laps of Eastway in the big ring! I used to do that when I lived in London, then when I moved to Devon rides across Dartmoor were easy (sort of). Could also do well in hilly road races. Eastway's a great hill interval session.

Heres a route its been put together by the West Surrey CTC - . Its a 110km round trip , starting at Shere & covering 2100 m of climbing !!! . Ive attached the Route sheet along with profile . Its a 30 mile ride from Clapham to Shere where you can start the loop , and then either catch the train from Dorking , or ride back .... total miles 114 !
