The 2007 Tour de France began Saturday in London as George Hincapie was the top American in the opening 7.9-kilometer prologue. Hincapie placed third behind winner Fabian Cancellara and runner-up Andreas Kloden. Hincapie turned in a time of 9:13 to finish 23 seconds off the winning time of 8:50 set by the reigning world champion and 10 seconds back from Kloden. One of the pre-race favorites to contend for the stage win, Dave Zabriskie was the next highest placed American in 11th, 32 seconds off the pace of Cancellara.
