Recetnly I have added HMB, calcium B-Hydroxy B-methybulyrate monohydrate, to my list of vitamins. A doctor friend of mine told me of a study where it was show to improve hematrocrit by 1-2% in volume.

I did some research and these were the studies I have been able to find.

the last one is the most relavent study I found. A quick quote of the conclustion "It is concluded that HMB supplementation may have positive affects on performance by increasing the onset of blood lactate accumulation; however, the mechanism is unknown." So no Vo2max increase, but a greater OBLA. SO I have been trying it for over a week and half and it seems to help (then again I started several other vitamins I hadn't previously taken).

So at 41 bucks for 20 days (3g day) it's a bit expensive. I am currently taking 2g day to make it last a bit longer.

Still, would like to hear thoughts from others out there who have had experince with this. Also, is this to be cycled like you would creatine (as per the study involving the cyclists)

Thanks
