My "road bike" is made out of a Cadex 890i - IOW, a carbon fiber 'hybrid'
frame with 26 inch wheels and canti-studs. All along I've made do with some
old CODA cantis mated up to the road levers (most recently 105 STI levers.)
Yesterday I switched to the Avid Shorty 6, mainly to finally get totally
away from old smooth post pads.
Suddenly I have almost the same braking power I do with most V-brakes! I
don't know what it is with this design, but it has stopping power you would
not expect. I even had to back them off just slightly in the front,
considering the light touch it would take to lock up the wheel (never could
really 'lock them down' on this bike before.)
