Washington - A new research in psychosomatic medicine has revealed that healthy but hostile and
depressive men face a heightened risk of heart attack.

"The new findings suggest the possibility that mild to moderate levels of depression symptoms
combined with feelings of hostility in men may raise their levels of a protein that is associated
with clogged arteries and a greater risk of heart attack," said to Edward C Suarez, of Duke
University Medical Center.

Ummm, I'm sorry, but I thought this was old news. Doesn't everybody already know that anger and
even depressive anger cause much physical stress to the body, and stress constricts blood flow
and oxygen and causes that protein to inflame and thicken and coagulate and cause heart disease
and attacks? This has been shown for many years. Also, even in the Bible it says that "a calm
heart is the life of the fleshly organism," }Prov. 14:30 Really not wanting to be smart-'aleck'
here, just really thought this was well known.

Men who scored highest on both questionnaires, indicating increased symptoms of depression and
higher levels of hostility, had IL-6 levels that were two to five times higher than men who scored
low on both questionnaires or scored high on only one questionnaire.

The association between the psychological factors and IL- 6 held steady even after accounting for
other factors associated with IL-6, such as age, body weight, cholesterol levels and blood
pressure.
