I am mounting a cassette on a new Mavic Open Pro wheel with Ultegra hub. I have the tool for tightening the lock nut - how much force should I use tightening it?

Also, does the front wheel have a preferred direction of rotation?

The torque spec is on the lock nut(ring) if it's a hyperglide casette.Otherwise, check the repair section at www.parktool.com. The front wheel(tire) is directional only if it has an arrow on the sidewall.

Thanks - I saw the 40Nm stamped on the ring but did not realize it was a torque specification. This converts to about 30 ft-lbs.
