How many of you carry a gun as part of your cycling equipment?

It is my responsibility to provide those I love with the best means and methods to protect themselves from those who do not respect life, liberty or property rights.

Frankly, I do not care if my god-given and constitutionally affirmed right to defend myself "incenses" people. My security trumps your emotions seven days a week.

No just man need fear me. My family need fear no man.

I am not out to 'convert' the world to anything. Not cycling. Not armed self-defense. I've long known that most in the herd are sheep.

It's the wolves I concern myself with.

Sigh.

While the chances that any of the people killed would have been carrying a handgun even IF they were allowed would have been relatively small... a small chance is better than no chance.

By the way... I got pulled over a few days ago while carrying a handgun on my motorcycles... 3 officers... here is the report for those of you so inclined to want to read about it:

Tragic shootings in Melbourne. One dead and one wounded coming to the aid of a woman, also shot. Brave fellows.

Illegal guns in the hands of outlaw biker gangs are said to be a major concern, with legal ownership of handguns for self-defense banned.

Sounds like an NRA bumber-sticker...

Prime Minister Howard, in regard to banning alcohol for indigenous aboriginals and perhaps extending the ban to others:
http://www.stuff.co.nz/4104315a12.html

"I'll be slammed for taking away people's rights but frankly I don't care about that."

Here in the US, our Native Americans can, in fact, sell alcohol and tobacco on tribal lands without federal taxation.

No US politician's career could survive a statement such as made by Howard.

That's just how much the US and AUS differ - is it a wonder we disagree on guns too?

jessee...here's a couple of video clips for your (and any freedom loving cyclist's!) enjoyment!

These were taken at BULLETFEST VIII last Friday and Saturday. We had a New Zealander come visit us in addition to to Austrians, two Swedes and a Finn. We had two Australians attend the event three or four years ago...some of them still love their rights in spite of the sheeple mentality of the herd.

This video is me, dumping 500 rounds out of a Russian PKM 7.62 x 54R machinegun. The burst went on for an astounding 39 seconds and it required five guys to handle the belt and feed it into the gun!

Anyone with a few dollars could go up in the OH-6 helicopter and shoot the hell out of the berm.

There was a fellow that rode in on a yellow Cannondale CADD something-or-other...I think this was his girlfriend:

Just a side note to let folks know that people shoot, carry defensive weapons and participate in shooting sport's many disciplines for the same reason we ride bicycles: It's just plain fun!

Beware of the power of stupid people when in a large group; Howard is coming up for an election soon and will con the herd yet again. The oppressed oppress themselves.

Only on group rides. Nothing says "don't try and drop me at that next hill" like the threat of getting shot in the back.

Upstroke, I used to be an admin on arfcom. The Avilas often come to Bulletfest and we had four tents of arfcom shooters in attendance this year.

I also post at the AK side of Falfiles (and I mod there), Asaultweb.net (I mod the AR and the AK forums), Jousters/CSP board, the CMP forums, Milsurpshooters and maybe another half-dozen boards.

It's good to see all the cyclists that shoot and hunt over here! Never vote your rights away...or you'll never see them again and they'll only take more.

That looks like way lotta fun!

Me and my puny CZ 7.62x25 pistol would be embarrassed, but a .50 BMC would bring up a big big big smile.

You think there is an old cruiser stacked up in that target line?

We had a door from a Crestline, Ohio police cruiser on the berm. After a few hundred holes, the guy that brought it took it off the target line to take home as a souvenir.

We had 4 lightweight road bikes and a few chidren's bikes. Also, a yamaha 650 Twin, a Honda 50 mo-ped and a Moto-Morinni Italian 50cc mo-ped. There were 7 cars/trucks we put out on the berm and about 300 household apppliances.

I saw two guys ride in on bicycles to shoot and one fellow rode in on a 1960's vintage BMW motorcycle with a rifle slung over his shoulder.

This thread will never die... anytime a weapons related issue comes up in the news, I'm sure this thread will provide an outlet for commentary. :)

Think of this thread as a gun forum within a bicycle forum :D

I use one of those old-school Campagnolo pumps that is the same length as the seat tube. It has a heavy, metal head and those two curved hardened steel prongs that hold it in place on the bottom bracket. I've dropped a lot of dogs to their knees (do they have knees?) at full gait with a single whack on the skull. It's actually a lot of fun to watch them do somersaults as you ride off into the distance. :D

Guns and bikes have a lot in common; they are sports and recreation equipment, tools of trade, and both require knowlege of safe operation because they are dangerous.

As this topic shows - things get interesting when bike riders are tree-huggers, rednecks and everything in-between. Same with gun owners!

I ruined a perfectly good alloy pump doing that, and yes, dogs have knees on their rear legs and elbows on their front legs.

And it sure does keep you fit.
And you can accidentally (or on purpose) kill someone.
And you can compensate for having a small penis (or none as the case may be).
And you can be "protected". LOL
And because it is your right.
