How many of you carry a gun as part of your cycling equipment?

The damned tree rats (aka: squirrels) in my woods have killed more trees than my Stihl!

You'll pry my chainsaw from my cold, dead hands!

And Ted Kennedy's cars have killed more people than my firearms!

I've killed more than my fair share with my Husqvarana, too. All is forgiven, lol!

Frankly, what I want DEAD more than anything else is the damned hoof rats (whitetail deer). They are a serious, serious nuisance and danger here in suburbia, because their only predator is the car. Absolutely no hunting allowed here, of course, and they lose all fear of people. A few years back, one literally backed me to my house, across a couple of acres, snorting, pawing the ground, and acting generally about as opposite of the stereotypical flighty, frightened deer as you could imagine. Plus, they destroy everything decent in my yard - and they change their preferences as time goes by, so I never know what is "safe" to plant.

See, that is what happens when you disturb the natural predator-prey balance. Personally, I would absolutely vote for opening hunting in certain, restricted conditions/areas here, because there are a few places that it would be safe, but ... of course, "they" can't have that, the damned whiny nature hugging types. I love nature, but I'm not going to go overboard and insist every last damned nuisance deer is some kinda gift from God that needs to be enshrined. Nor am I gonna be a hypocrite and deny that I really like living where there is a lot of "stuff", like shopping, entertainment, dining, recreation. It's all about balance.

Google the deer menace in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Cleveland suburbs...the herd is out of control. They bring in sharpshooters (deer snipers! OMG!) and the libtard greenies pitch a major ***** and want taxpayers to fund deer birth control programs.

I do not lie! I'm serious! It's so damned retarted, yet so typical Deamoncrat that's it's laughable. Can't have guns around the libtards.

Here's a good sign (literally!) in the news today!

And for psycho-socialist-cyclists...

Of course, I would prefer to send them to the Middle East. Europe is already a screwed up enough place.

Land mines.

Takes care of deer AND JW's!

Actually, our Metroparks system here had a deer cull a few years ago, and that was an "alternative" proposal - deer vasectomies. Really people? Just eat the damned things.

And yes, I know how out of control deer can get. I remember seeing a piece years ago on 60 Minutes about some of the Long Island burbs protecting the herd - and the herd getting enormous, aggressive, and dangerous.

I say the only good hoof rat is a DEAD hoof rat!

Ohio vehicle bumpers...the liberal PETA loons must prefer $3,000-$6,000+ insurance claims and high premiums to simply shooting and eating the tasty bastards. A guy just South of here posted pictures of his totaled out, damned near new Suburban after he clobbered a pair of decent size deer. Not a straight panel on it. Think of the repair cost if his insurance wrote off a $45,000 truck!

My neighbor planted 30,000 trees about 10 years ago...multiple species. If 5,000 are still alive I would be amazed. He got nuisance permits and listed me as a shooter with the ODNR. He and I couldn't keep up with the birth rate.

A local farmer with a large orchard was having the same issues with his fruit trees. He shot and shot and shot. Hit one or two and the remaining 15-20 would run off, only to return. He told me he had nuisance tags and asked if I would bring a machinegun out and spray them when he hit the spotlight...uh...no! Too dangerous. I could just see the local libtard news crews going berserk if they caught wind of that story!

My next door neighbor had 3 deer-car collisions in under 18 months. This was about a decade ago. Two of them were in the night (she works odd hours because she is a private duty ICU nurse for hospice services/at home terminally ill children), one was in the middle of the day in a downtown shopping area in heavy traffic. Her AAA agent thought she was joking when she called the third time.

The only thing I can disagree with is "tasty". For some reason, I detest the taste and even smell of venison. Other game is fine, I love squirrel, rabbit is fine, duck and goose are OK, but deer, moose, and elk, all which I've tried, blech... I think it's just something with my sense of taste, I eat lamb and other "stronger" meats, just not venison.

Lol, seriously?
Firstly here in Poland you need to have a permit (and to get it you need to have good arguments),
and secondly why would I need it during cycling?

In my area, it is completely safe to ride your bike without a gun, so I find no reason to. This is a luxury for me though. I have heard cases where cyclers are robbed and it disgusts me. If you do live in an area where cycling is dangerous, then find ways to protect yourself. This could be through a gun, knife, or combat skills. Or if you're crazy, then just hope your cycling speed can come in handy. :D

1. The Germans
2. The Russians
3. Teutonic Knights
4. The Mongols
5. The Swedes
6. The Prussians/Saxons
7. The Austrians

Everyone's had a go at Poland. I would stay armed at all times! :)

Getting back to the intial question:

I have been in two separate situations where I was put in an attempted strong armmed robbery scenario. After the first time, I was livid. I didn't ride with anything at that time. I always felt it was unnecesary until this happened. I was able to fight back enough where I wasn't robbed & he ran but the feeling still remained. The feeling of being immensely vulnerable on the bike. So, I picked up a set of blast knuckles. If you're unaware of what they are:

I ride with them always now. So, not quite a gun but a level of protection. The second time it occured I felt much more comfortable defending myself.

I had absolutely no idea that people were carrying guns with them while they're on their cycles I always think of bike riders in a different light now obviously they are leaving the house prepared for battle which is something I can appreciate.

That's the general idea. Concealed means...concealed. Deep concealment is even tougher to spot. Prepared for battle? Not hardly. Prepared for self-defense in a hard world? Hopefully. Being mentally prepared is just as important.

Absolutely, nothing is wrong with carrying a gun. In fact I had always thought about it. A gun can be sporting equipment or can be for self defence. As long as it is not used to intimidate people, why not carry it?!!

On the bicycle you are very exposed. and you need some protection in case if a stupid aggressive wild dog or bear or a stupid buch of road hackers cut your path. Unlike a car or a motorbike (with a proper motorbike protective gear it very hard for some animals to bite you). For a bicycle you have no protection and you dont have an engine to propell escape quick enough in some situations.

So if you ride in the wilderness or on remote highways I see it is a good responsible habit to carry a pistol.

Some will always keep arguing, just ignore them.
