How many of you carry a gun as part of your cycling equipment?

You kids...get off my lawn!
Campy Bob. My sincerest. Just tried out an LCP, P3AT side by side. No comparison. The trigger pull on the LCP is SO much smoother than the KT it's almost a sin.
They say it's 7, but feels more like 5.

Anyway, the price difference is negligible for the step up in quality. I must"ve been thinking of the Kahr P380. Were I to get a bike CCW in .380 the LCP is the clear choice. So the LCP and P3AT switch places.

The ONLY reason the P32 remains is 1 extra round and lighter felt recoil for more accurate follow-ups.

And thank you for your kind words regarding my post. Unlooked for, but much appreciated.

I really like my LCP for cycling. Size and weight matter in our sport.

First off your post was read. And understood. Did you REALLY read mine? What was stated was that you're not ENTITLED to an opinion regarding our Constitutional right to bear arms. Not that you couldn't HAVE one. It's simply not a factor.

If you want to change policy in the USA move here. Become a citizen. We have an amendment system that allows for changes. Get involved in a movement to redress that with which you don't agree. Otherwise you're just another enfant terrible pointing your finger and crying BS.

The rest of your diatribe was SOLBS. Not even going to dignify it.

The OP's question was 'How many?' not "what are your attitudes regarding...'

Btw, your first paragraph had 'I' 7 times. A disturbing deeper revelation of character. Interesting pathology that.
I don't see a substantial difference between having an opinion and being entitled to an opinion. I am not sure exactly what you mean.

I think it's important that people think critically about the polices of major governments around the world. I like to think about these things. So perhaps I will have an opinion on a foreign governments policy, then I will talk to a citizen of that country and gain insight. Then I can think on these subjects and help shape the policy in my own country.

I don't want to change any American policy, I said that before. I want to have a conversation.

Before this thread I always thought "Yanks are crazy, they love walking around with guns all the time!" But now I have a little more insight into American gun culture. Now I see American's view guns as an extension of their personal freedom, it's a way to protect yourself without having to rely on any one or any organization. Also you guys look at guns much in the way all of us here on the forum look at bikes, it's a hobby.

I spent a few minutes trying to determine what SOLBS stood for, but to no avail. Can someone help me out on that one?

"it's a way to protect yourself without having to rely on any one or any organization."

'I' am responsible for my safety and the safety of my family. NOT any government entity. Our Supreme Court has determined that no law enforcement or military agency is legally responsible to protect the citizens. That rests squarely on our shoulders.

"Also you guys look at guns much in the way all of us here on the forum look at bikes, it's a hobby."

It's much more than that. It's a God-given RIGHT that can not be infringed. No man gave me the right to defend myself from tyranny and crime. That right has always existed. Target shooting may be considered a sport or a hobby. Hunting may be considered a sport or a hobby. Both may even be a vocation. But, it is the right to defend oneself that is inviolate and sacred. It is THE right that insures all other rights exist.

We...and you...live in a very dangerous world. A world in which thugs, jihadi's and the just plain insane can...and do so every day....commit acts no man would conjur up in his worst nightmare. It our RESPONSIBILITY as citizens to stop these acts before they affect us and our families. Those that shirk this responsibility do not deserve to walk among honest men for that is what establishes the thin veneer we call "civilization".

SOLBS in an acronym for 'same old liberal bull ****'.

Thanks much, Campy Bob. BBBB's relentless ignorance has just jumped the shark for me. He ain't gonna and doesn't wanna get it. I'm done. Like Governor Ventura said, "You can't legislate against stupid." Well, you can't reason with it either.

So you don't think expanded background checks for bike ownership is the answer? Maybe we could restrict the number of gears a bike can have and maybe stem lengths could be held under 120 MM .
lolololololololol!! How did I MISS this post!?

A full salute to you, sir. "Brevity is the heart of wit." Indeed.

I've spent the last 30 years or so explaining this stuff to people that have no desire to comprehend factual statements or to refute them. Preaching to the choir is easy, but getting a libtard to come to grips with reality usually requires one of the wealth re-distributionists to put a gun in their face while robbing them and then shooting the **** out of them just because of their 'white privilege' or because it's a sunny Tuesday afternoon. Even then they will blame themselves or their 'government' for failing to protect them and give mo' money those that would assault them.

Of course it's all New Age crystal-worshipping malarkey to take personal responsibility for one's actions and there's no damned way the criminals should be blamed for being in the predicament they are and 'forced' to rob and kill...

I used to import bikes from Canada and Toronto was a very safe city back in the day. Now...Toronto is as craptastic and nearly as dangerous as any other large metropolitan morass of humanity packed into a population density that high.

So Bob , are you saying that those 5 recruiters that got killed just down the road from me should have been armed? Arming military personnel , that's just plain crazy. The next thing you will expect is that they get the same level of medical care as illegals.

Yeah, my bad.

We live in a world turned upside down by a mob of people with a very serious mental disease...socialism/communism.

Did you see the pictures of citizens and veterans protecting recruiting offices across the nation...with firearms?

God bless America, our armed forces and those that stand for freedom and democracy.

Just call us crazy rednecks.

Wow so much great information and so much BS all in one page.
Bob thanks for taking the time to talk to me like a rational human being, you may notice I am one of the people who actually does listen to what you guys are saying and I take the time to think about it. I completely understand and agree with the fact that only I am responsible for my and my families safety. I may consider getting a firearms license, I was actually talking to an old friend who I used to ride bikes/motorcycles with who owns a few firearms. He's going to take me to the range next weekend.

Yes the world is a dangerous place, however in a historical context if you live in a 1st world country you live in the safest time and place to be alive. Unfortunately the 24 hour media makes it seem like the opposite. I consider it a privilege to be alive in the time and place I am alive. However we have to be vigilant, I see signs that this era of peace is in peril. Toronto is not a dangerous city. Don't let the **** on the news fool you, any place you put 7 million people together some bad things might happen. Mostly it's idiots killing idiots. My friend lives in what's consider the "bad" part of the city. It's not that bad, we walked to and from a few local pubs late at night without harassment. We chatted with few people you might label as a thug. They were good people. There are as many assholes in baggy jeans as their are assholes in suits. But there are many good people too.
The media is more dangerous then most of these people.

I don't even know what to say about the Welshman. Perhaps you have just had to endure too many dumb people in your life it's made you bitter. You seem more interested in labeling me and attacking me then having a conversation. Go ahead flame away, I don't care what you think about me, I am here to exchange ideas. You don't know much about me except the few posts I put here. I haven't voted for anyone resembling a liberal since I was a teenager (hey we all did stupid things as teenagers right haha.)

I go back and forth between my Walther PPQ and the rosewood Sig P938. Being able to carry the Sig cocked and locked is a nice feature but 6+1 falls short of the double stack on the Walther, which is also easier to shoot accurately for me. I don't carry too often. Florida? Absolutely.

I may have, technically, had attempted 'robbery perpetrated on me by men in suits (used car salesmen come to mind), but those sorts rarely resort to physical assault, home invasions, car jacking or murder.

The morons in baggy saggy pants and face tattoos...like Weathrby I like my pistols cocked & locked when any where within a 2-mile radius of those types.

Have some fun at the range, BBBB. Shooting well is challenging and rewarding. Like cycling it does require practice and a constant focus on safety. Before going, commit the four rules of firearm safety to memory and practice them EVERY time you are around a firearm. If you observe anyone violating them...get away from that person quickly.

Firearms can do great harm in a split second in careless hands...just like a bicycle can also do to a careless rider.

Don't be too hard on the Welsh guy. He probably HAS had many prior interactions with folks that were less than receptive to logic and calm, rational thinking. I also have and if you read this thread through from page one you will see where I also got fed up and tore into a couple of the site's morons. They earned their response from me and I would happily try to educate them in real life by doing what your friend is doing with you...taking them out to my range and providing some guns, some free ammunition and some instruction. I doubt they have your open mind when it comes to their opinions of firearms, but I would try my best to get them hooked on shooting sports AND try to open their minds on firearms as tools of self-preservation.

In the end, firearms are just tools. There is need to respect them as you would any tool that, if misused, would cause harm or damage. There is no need to fear them. Fear should be reserved for the wrong hands that hold that tool.

Being of a 'certain age' I would dispute your statement that living in a first world country that this is the safest time we have ever lived. Media aside, it most certainly is NOT. I could provide all kinds of facts, figures, studies and statistics to back up my assertion, but as we all know those statistics can be made to endorse any opinion.

Suffice it to say that 'I', like the citizens I'll post pictures of below, are the ones that make our own little world's 'safe'(er).

Is a 'safe' first world country one that needs armed citizens on the sidewalks to protect the soldiers, sailors and airmen that do the work necessary to insure our freedoms?
