How many of you carry a gun as part of your cycling equipment?

You're right, I'll chill out. Holding a mirror to your behavior/words is a pretty aggressive course of action juxtaposed to carrying a concealed firearm while bicycling. Didn't the dark-colored pot say something rather absurd to the kettle??? Might I suggest you take just a little bit of your own advice.

Peace. Perhaps you have the capacity to fully comprehend the concept...
bump

Lots of gang-bangers in the bucolic pastures of rural OH or PA or IN or wherever CowardBob bunkers up.

I'll answer that for you...it will not. Typical...all hot air and no answers.

But, I will answer yours. After a tough training ride or race, there's nothing more refreshing than beotch-slapping libtards. It's only slightly more refreshing than that first, cold PBR, but there's no bitter aftertaste! And it's genuinely rewarding to edjumacate a few good folks.

Why don't you just shoot it?

Kang would file a class-action suit against me. She's a libtard also.

I guess I could blame the transistor...unoriginal, but it just might get me off.

Besides, I've yet to see a website capable of controlling a human...other than that eeevil Strava site.
Obviously you are a bit too slow to understand my arguments and respond intelligently, so I'll just say it plainly. You spam the thread will pointless anecdotes. You refuse to respond to points offered to counter your arguments. You spam the thread some more with ad hominem and bad humor. etc. So - in the honored tradition of forum troll defence - I will not be responding to you. Please note my reasons rather than you delusions when you follow with your inane response.

Don't read too well huh.

Don't write too well, huh?

Typical. Challange his reading skill while displaying a lack of the same.

So, it's come down to this. More great debating and facts presented by the libtards... You fail in making your point so you attack your opponent.

You have earned your moniker. Congratulations.

The Second Amendment protects the First.

That is practical and reasonable. I personally just think it's overkill. That being said - I don't live in a western state. The only wildlife I have to worry about is perhaps a dear or racoon.

How'd you know?? Actually, my emotions were deeply saddened by the locking of another thread concerning cycling while armed with a firearm. The moderator is such a meany! He really showed me who was boss - in a mall cop type of way, nonetheless. LOL!

Thought I'd come back over here and keep the paranoid and insecure gun fanatics hopping. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/biggrin.gif

Another bicyclist is robbed on popular Metropolitan Branch Trail
http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/another-bicyclist-is-robbed-on-popular-metropolitan-branch-trail/2011/07/19/gIQA28SvOI_story.html

By Martin Weil, Published: July 19, 2011The Washington Post

A man on a bicycle who was headed downtown to work became the latest victim of a robbery on the Metropolitan Branch Trail, a pathway through the heart of the District that has been plagued by assaults and holdups in recent months.

The most recent incident, the third in 10 days, occured about 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Brookland area of Northeast Washington as the man entered the trail near Eighth and Edgewood streets.

As the victim neared a man who was standing on the trail, the man drew a handgun and pointed it. After ordering the bicyclist to place his possessions on the ground, the robber seized two cellphones and a wallet and told the bicyclist to go on his way.

The victim said Tuesday that some of his possessions were later found in an alley on North Capitol Street, about one mile west of where the robbery occurred.

Police said the description of the robber in the Monday incident was similar to that given of the robber in a confrontation that occurred Friday near Third and R streets NE. In both instances, the robber was described as a young black man who wore eyeglasses. In the Monday incident, the robber was said to be 5 feet 10 to 6 feet, in a white shirt and dark blue shorts.

The trail, which runs from north of the Capitol to Silver Spring, is attractive to bicycle commuters, joggers and walkers, and the robberies have aroused concern.

The Guardian Angels have began patrols on the trail, and a coalition of trail users has called for volunteers to patrol from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday night, starting at Fourth and S streets.

And I AM the militia.

Who are the militia?

"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for a few public officials." George Mason (3 Elliot, Debates at 425-426)
"The militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves, ... all men capable of bearing arms;..." -- Richard Henry Lee writing in "Letters from the Federal Farmer to the Republic", 1788, page 169.
"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom? Congress shall have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American ... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the People." -- Tench Coxe - 1788.
CAMPYBOB Since you're a soldier in our militia I'm assuming you're taking a break from fighting forest fires and/or assisting with the evacuation of regions effected by hurricanes to post on this blog. Which unit do you serve with? Or maybe your militia unit is serving oversees? Or perhaps you belong to the branch of the militia that searches and rescues citizens who are lost or hurt? I only assume you're a soldier because the language of your qoute above from Coxe connects militia's with soldiers and therefore you're in an organized unit. I myself have never served in the militia but instead served in the continental army for four years.

I do hope you're keeping your sword sharp and oiled.

The militia is quoted as being:

1. "the whole people"

2. "all men capable of bearing arms"

3. "ourselves"

No mention is made of "soldiers" other than the fact we should be in possession of the tools of a soldier and be capable of using them.

I have done S&R, as has my wife. I have fought structure and brush fires. No where near forest fires or hurricanes, but I have assisted after tornados. The Ohio Militia is now operating under the ONG.

I thank you for your service to our country.

THE IMAGE of a man who allegedly knocked a teenager from his bike and attacked him in Townsville late last night has been released.

The 19-year-old cyclist was on the Oonoonba Road footpath in Idalia around 11.15pm when he was punched and knocked from his bike by the hoodie-wearing man.
The teenager put up a fight but was then hit in the head several times, with the offender demanding money and property.
The offender managed to steal the cyclist's wallet before walking away, last seen on Fairfield Waters Drive.
The teen cyclist suffered cuts and bruises to his face, shoulder and arm.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, of solid build and had dark brown hair. He was wearing a black and grey hooded jumper and black trousers.

Using your definitions:

1) "the whole people" I will notify my 2 year old that he is a member of the militia as soon as I get home.
2) "all men capable of bearing arms" I'm assuming this means you don't think women should be allowed to serve? Just going by your definition.
3) "ourselves." That's a pretty loose definition, which would include the criminals in the articles you've posted.

According to your criteria above most gangs could identify themselves as a militia.

If a group of guys putting on camo, training together on the weekends, drinking beer, talking about current affairs and geo-political issues and putting up a webpage, qualifies as a militia, then many of the cycling teams in my area also qualify (most have websites, wear uniforms, drink beer, train together, talk about geo-political issues during outings). I will be sure to tell them on the next group ride/training session that they are in a militia. If you love the military lifestyle, (conducting paramilitary training and physical activity) you should look into joining the active duty military where you can do it almost 24/7 and get paid.

Also: Three bears have been found in Los Angeles in the past year. In keeping with the articles you've posted about anecdotal crime involving someone on a bike being attacked I think we need to start a separate thread on whether or not to carry bear bells or perhaps something that could take down one or more bears while on a ride. Before you dismiss this as not very likely, I think it would be prudent to prepare, just in case (like carrying a firearm on a bike ride). I think fixing a couple of sets of bear bells on my road bike should do the trick.

Wow, you are seriously naive. Tyrants love people like you.

No need to deny the cancer that is killing us.

Brilliant work. Perhaps you and Tone Loco could collaborate on a book?

I would love to overhear the Obama-luv sessions the cycling 'militia' would spit out!

I will be sure to tell them on the next group ride/training session that they are in a militia.

You do that. Be sure and record it for YouTube.

Nah! Working as a merc for Cheney and Rove pays better! The black ops exposing Fast & Furious is just now getting to be at the stage hysterical laughter breaks out in the halls of Congress.

The last time our county ODNR officer inspected Black Bear **** piles...they were full of bells and a laminated DNC Donar card. Coincidence? I think not!

A bicyclist told Madison police that he was mugged early Monday morning on the bike path near Division Street.

Police said the incident occurred at about 12:15 a.m. when the 26-year-old said he was approached by four teenagers.

The victim told police that one of the teenagers punched him and knocked him to the ground.

Once down, the man said all four punched and kicked him. The teens took the man's wallet and phone.

They fled with his wallet and phone.

The victim followed the teens and was able to recover his wallet, minus a personal check that had been inside, police said.

Akron man robbed of bike, teen arrested http://www.ohio.com/news/break-news/akron-man-robbed-of-bike-teen-arrested-1.316820#

Beacon Journal staff report
Published: June 27, 2012 - 04:59 PM
An Akron teenager is charged with robbery after police say he knocked a man to the ground and stole his bicycle Tuesday night.
The 16-year-old boy is being held in the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center on delinquency charges of robbery.
The teen was arrested shortly after 10 p.m. after a 25-year-old man told police he was knocked to the ground and robbed of his bicycle while riding on South Arlington Street. The man said he chased the teen until the boy stopped and pulled out a knife.
