My Fondriest Status weighs in at just under 18.5 pounds. Planning on lightening it up some more with some new wheels. If I wasn't married with kids we'd be seeing some new handlebars and maybe Record carbon cranks. Of course I could always just lose a pound or two.

I just brought home my new wheels last night. A 2004 Klein Aura VX (same as 2003 Klein Q-Carbon Team). With somewhat heavy dual sided SPD pedals, two bottle cages and Shimano Flight Deck it comes in at 20.3 pounds. It is a 61cm size with full Ultegra Triple.
This saves me about 8 pounds relative to my old Cannondale.

I know of only two reasons to build a bike as ight as possible at great expense. #1, if you are a serious racer like Cat1 or pro. #2, just to show off. There is no reason why the average rider would have to go to such lengths. Could save a pound by using the toilet before a ride. Cheaper then most equipment.

Since I have started riding again in July, have only replaced rear wheel and both tires and bike is now 19lbs lighter.......

How is the flight deck? Heard it reads a cadence even if you are not pedaling? Going to get the complete Dura-Ace groupo minu the hubs, seatpost, and cranks this off season.....

    I'm guessing somewhere between 20-30lbs, but that's a rough estimate. I haven't used a a scale.

    quote
"It staggers me how many people get fixated with 50 grams here and there when a water bottle is 1 Kilo and you may be 2 or 3 kilos overweight. "

well thats easy to answer there are 29 main parts on your bike, if you can save just 50 gramms on a 1/2 of the parts thats a 1.6 lbs saving on the bike or 3.2 lbs total on every part.

Every gramm counts when building a light bike from the start.

My RB weighs 20lbs. (as ridden) with bottle cages (excluding bottles), CO2 inflator, mini-saddlepack filled with minittool, spare chain link and small bottle of lube and it's just about 17lbs. if I remove those items but leave the FlightDeck computer hardware on. I could probably get it lighter... maybe by another pound or so as I don't have the lightest stem, seatpost or saddle in the world.

My full-suspension MTB weighs 26.5lbs. as ridden.
