How to remove labeling?

  1. I am trying to remove the lettering from a Shimano 600 quill.
    It appears to be painted on, but a methylene chloride based
    stripper has no effect after two or three minutes. Usually
    a few seconds will take off a logo.

    I guess the logo is under some sort of clear coat?
    Any ideas on how to remove it?

    Have you tried 60 grit aluminum oxide paper? ;-)
