  1. Hi,

I've been using a Timex HRM for about 6 months. It works fine for the first 40-50 min. but later
tends to drop the signal. My impression is that it may be the chest unit battery problem, although 6
months seems to be a bit early for that. I tried putting some ECG gel under the sensors but it did
not help. Has anyone experience similar problems?

  2. There's no real problem unless the HRM gives a zero reading, and you seem to be floating over your
own pasty body, while people step over you trying to get to work.

Is it possible it's loosening while you run? I had a problem within about 1 yr after I started using
my Polar, although not that far into run. In my case possibly 2 issues: less sweat to make contact
(wearing lighter clothes in spring after wintr layers), herky/jerky start to work portion of
intervals. It was a problem for a couple weeks, iirc. Then went away and hasn't been an issue since
    - going on 3 yr now with original battery. Weather got warmer (or less breezy = more sweat), and I
don't think I've done that type of intervals since then (mostly do fartleks around good/bad patches
    of trail or hills).
