Considering doing this route as my first cycling holiday - it's one of the
flatter National Cycle Routes? Anyone done an easier one? I have 6 days - do
the railways allow bikes on board ok? Any suggestions as to books or sites,
booking b&b accommodation would be most appreciated. Thanks

I strongly advise booking your rail journey and stressing that you also have
a bike. Until recently, I had not encountered any problems transporting my
bike on trains in most areas of the UK. In many instances I'd just turn up
at the station and buy a ticket. However, it's the school holidays and peak
touring season, the available spaces might well be booked - it all depends
on the date and time of travel.

I'm sure that there's a Sustrans map of the route that you want to ride.

The Sustrans map also has, if it's similar to the ones that I have, contact
details for tourist information centres who could book accomodation for you.

Not too many of the NCRs have books/guides written for them - C2C, Reivers
Route, and The Transpennine Trail spring to mind.

Have a look at the Sustrans web site. www.sustrans.org.uk to see what's
available from them.

Enjoy the ride.
