I received a series of ugly messages today from a woman who regularly
participates on this board. The fact that this woman signed the New
Years Resolution, doesn't mean that she's going to leave Ilena alone.
She made a series of allegations about me and told me her opinion of
Ilena. Apparently she considers Ilena the devil incarnate!. . . She
suggested that, because I refuse to join the Bash-Ilena club, I am
staying with an abusive spouse or abusing my children!!! . . . She
called Ilena a psychopath. Does she
realize that accusations like these can be dangerous?

She was upset that I thanked Ilena for her work and didn't list all
the other women . . . What I said was: "Thanks to everyone who has
participated so hard for so long! . . . No single person could have
done it alone!

Without strong women like Ilena and Diana Zuckerman, Inamed would be
cheering now!" She said that women were complaining (to her) that they
had been neglected . . .

To anyone who feels overlooked, I'm sorry if you feel neglected . . .
I KNOW it took everyone! . . . Including Ilena!

Ilena continues to refer people seeking support to those who might be
able to help - just as she has for years! Many of those she helped
have stayed
around to campaign against implants or provide support themselves.

The fact that I'm not here to bash anyone (including Ilena) doesn't
make me anyone's puppet (as was alleged) . . . Nor make me a wicked
person! . . .
If I find anyone's posts repeatedly offensive, I block that poster. .

I'm sorry to see that this board has been trashed to the point of
uselessness. Believe it or not, this board is NOT Breast Implant
Central.

There are many other groups connecting and supporting each other. . .

Kathi has tried very hard to keep this board positive . . . But, for
whatever reason, there are people who are devoting their lives to
trashing Ilena . . .

Personally, I don't like to see Ilena fight back, but I'm not in her
shoes!

That she's stayed here after all these years of name-calling proves,
to me, that she's one tough, dedicated lady!

I could care less about how the Humantics organization was formed, or
who started it. I don't care what Dr. Zaffuto did. . . I don't care
if women who need support are strippers or hookers. . . I don't
consider this board a testing platform for moral turpitude. The ONLY
thing I am concerned about is the fact that nobody deserves to buy a
product in good faith and have their health stolen from them! The
manufacturer's agents can post whatever junk they want . . . But they
can't make a safe breast implant!

I'm wondering how many others have received this kind of trash from
women who consider themselves "supporters"? . . . I want to encourage
anyone who receives one of these poison pen letters to consider the
source, and decide for themselves.

Because of the large scope of breast implant litigation, and the
financial ramnifications to manufacturers, their insurers, as well as
other parties negative to your position, this is a natural forum for
them to dwell while hiding behind various screen names, and
identities, etc.

In addition, simply because a person on this board is giving what
APPEARS to be a legitimate identity, and is PURPORTING to be a breast
implant victim or advocate, simply doesn't make it so.

Because many settlement dollars are on the table, the possibility of
collecting up victim information (to possibly be used against them in
litigation), and/or the ability to solicit donations from them for
"non-profit" purposes, makes this a natural place to dwell.

If a person purporting to be an advocate of breast implant victims
regularly uses foul or disrespectful language in their communication
on this board, they are likely offending a good portion of the public
in so doing. When these individuals offend the public, they are are
in the process of dividing public opinion against the victims as a
whole, and helping to destroy the collective victim image.

There is a very old adage (and a game show), that a chain is only as
strong as it's weakest link. Collectively, mankind can only progress
or achieve, as much as the weakest link will allow.

In addition to the items mentioned above, it is also important to
know victims of breast implants have not always been the most
fortunate in having good legal representation during litigation. There
are likely many factors at play in this regard. But critical to
understand, is that many victims have been corralled up (as in the MDL
Global Settlement), others have opted out, been likely bundled up by
"our" plaintiff attorneys, and settled as a collective victim package
deal. Large numbers of victims have been "fired" by "our" attorneys
and left without representation.

Asking for a referral to "good" legal representation from this board,
is likely a [censored] shoot where you keep coming up "snake eyes." If you
have been victimized by breast implants, and are in need of good legal
representation, I would suggest seeking out help local to your home.
Call your nearest law school, and have the professors give
recommendations/referrals. It has been suggested that a graduate law
student that is now practicing, will be reluctant to "disappoint" his
former professor. Especially, if that professor may be willing to
refer future clientele his way. You can also contact the state bar in
the state that you recide.

Advice regarding legal representation on this board, is only as good
as the person doing the steering, and that steering may be in a
direction 180 degrees the opposite direction of where you need to go.

More than one of our victims has had the judge in court ask "our"
attorneys, "Who are you representing anyway?". . .We don't want that
happening to you!

There are two active newsgroups regarding breast implants, each with a
different purpose. Below are the distinctions.

Purpose: Discussion of breast implants.

This "IS" a place to support people NOT to get implants, and to debate
the pro's and con's of breast implants.

Unfortunately, due to the loose nature of this board there have been
on-going, arguments, fighting and disputes between individuals, which
have little to do with breast implant recipient's needs and support.

Many victims/survivors of breast implants find that because of illness
and health issues, they are unable to deal with the stress that
emanates from the chaos.

Therefore, another board (alt.support.breast-implant-sisters) was
created with a clear and more controlled charter, to assist in
filtering out those who would seek to disrupt and harm the effort to
provide actual support to those in need of it.
